Congratulations to Carmel Donnelly on her public service medal

SIRA’s former Chief Executive and current Chair of IPART, Ms Carmel Donnelly, was awarded a Public Service Medal in the 2022 Australia Day  Honours List. 
Ms Donnelly received the medal for her outstanding public service in driving regulatory reform in New South Wales.  
Chief Executive Adam Dent congratulated Ms Donnelly for her significant contributions as a public sector leader.
“Carmel is a leader that is highly regarded for her integrity and passion for improving outcomes for the people of NSW,” Mr Dent said.
“She established SIRA as a trusted, effective, and independent regulator.  
“This Public Service Medal is well-deserved recognition of Carmel’s long and distinguished career in the NSW public sector.”
Ms Donnelly served as the first SIRA Chief Executive from March 2017 to July 2021.
Ms Donnelly led the delivery of the Government’s CTP reform package, which returned $300 million to NSW vehicle owners through reduced premiums and extended benefits for people injured in a motor vehicle accident.
Within the workplace, she was an early advocate for mentally healthy workplaces, employees with a disability, Indigenous people in the public service, and was a mentor to many.
Ms Donnelly currently serves as the Chairperson of the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of NSW.
