CTP Care comes into effect on 1 December 2022

1 December 2022

CTP Care comes into effect from 1 December 2022.

CTP Care provides treatment and care statutory benefits for people injured in a motor accident in NSW on or after 1 December 2017 who have treatment and care needs for five years or more.

An injured person may transfer early by agreement in some circumstances. Prior to the 1 December commencement, 37 people have transferred to the program early.

It is expected that approximately 70 people will transfer to CTP Care in December, 2022.

SIRA has worked closely with key stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition to CTP Care.

SIRA has published new Motor Accident Guidelines: CTP Care which take effect from 25 November 2022.

The guidelines ensure that injured people experience minimum disruption through the transfer of providers and that the licensed insurer and CTP Care work together to provide proactive support to optimise recovery.

CTP Care is administered by the Lifetime Care and Support Authority (LCSA) and refers to the functions exercised by the LCSA as the relevant insurer under the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017.
