New ‘If you get injured at work’ poster

The new poster provides information on what to do and who to contact if a person is injured at work and is available to download on the SIRA website. Employers are required to make this information available to all staff either electronically or by downloading the poster from our website. The poster is available in multiple languages.

Have your say on draft Guidelines for the management of whiplash injuries

SIRA is seeking feedback on the draft Australian Clinical Guidelines for Health Professionals Managing People with Whiplash-Associated Disorders, Fourth Edition. The draft Guidelines are intended to improve health and social outcomes of people with whiplash by providing best-practice recommendations.

New online application forms for ‘health practitioners authorised to give evidence’

SIRA has released new online application forms to streamline the process for health practitioners seeking initial or renewal of appointment as a ‘health practitioner authorised to give evidence’ in the NSW motor accidents scheme.

Workers compensation fraudster convicted and sentenced

Further to SIRA’s investigation, a worker has been convicted and a community corrections order imposed for a period of 12 months without a supervision condition, for defrauding the NSW workers compensation scheme.

QBE censured for failure in timely determination of treatment requests

SIRA has issued a letter of censure to QBE Insurance (Australia) Limited (QBE) following investigations into delays in responding to requests for treatment, rehabilitation and attendant care in the NSW motor accidents scheme.

NRMA Insurance censured for delays in payment of weekly benefits

SIRA has issued a letter of censure to Insurance Australia Limited trading as NRMA Insurance (NRMAI) following investigations into delays in processing the weekly payments of statutory benefits in seven CTP claims.

SIRA is investigating allegations of unauthorised brokers providing fraudulent home building compensation insurance to builders working in the residential building industry.
